Senseo Coffee Pod

Senseo Coffee Pod

SENSEO coffee pods (also called pads in some countries)  are specially-designed, pre-measured servings of coffee that give you a full, smooth aroma and taste. The coffee blends are selected and roasted by Europe’s renowned Douwe Egberts, the world’s second largest coffee roaster.

There are many different coffee pods that you could use with your Senseo coffee maker – Douwe Egberts, JavaPodz, Aloha Island, etc. You can even use your own coffee as well.

Below are some alternatives that you can choose for your senseo coffee pods.

Douwe Egberts coffee pods

The standard Senseo coffee pods come from Douwe Egberts. There are many different flavors available:

  • The standard roasts: Mild Roast, Medium Roast, Dark Roast
  • Decaffeinated as a decaffeinated version of Medium Roast
  • Flavored coffees: Paris – French Vanilla, Killarney – Irish Creamery, Vienna – Hazelnut Waltz
  • Speciality Blends: Sumatra Blend, Brazil Blend, Kenya Blend, Colombia Blend – these single origin are blended from arabica coffees from selected plantations and are a little more expensive than the normal blends.
  • Barista Blends: Caramel Macchiato, Vanilla Latte and Café Mocha
  • Cappuccino
  • Espresso

Aloha Island Coffee

They have some 100% pure Kona coffee pods and if you use them with your Senseo coffee maker you’ll get a really delightful cup of coffee.

Gourmet Cafe

They have many different roasts such as Sumatra Mandheling, French Roast, Kona Blend, Colombian Supremo and Estate Costa Rican. They’re comes with a pretty good price. Each pod makes full 8oz mug of coffee (the Douwe Egberts Senseo coffee pods only make 4oz each).

JavaPodz

If you love flavored coffee then try the very good selection of JavaPodz, but they have a lot of unflavored coffees too though. There are “Chocolate Cappuccino”, “Almond Amaretto”,  or “Mocha Cinnamon Swirl” and some more.

Some other brands you could consider are JavaOne, Timothy’s, Caféjo, Black Mountain Gold, Eldorado, Baronet, Molto, Reunion Island and Fratello.

Tea pods

Pickwick, belonging to the same company as Douwe Egberts, has a large selection of tea pods for your senseo coffee maker, but unfortunately most of them are available only in Europe. Solera has quite a few different tea pods for both traditional teas and herb teas. JavaPodz also makes several pods for tea.

Using your own coffee

If you want to use your own coffee, you have several options. There are refillable filters that you could use for ground coffee:

  • Coffeeduck permanent refillable filter will be the best for you if you have the original Senseo Coffee Maker (Model 7810). It’s very easy to use and to clean and most users are very happy with it. However, it doesn’t work with other Senseo models like Supreme or Deluxe.
  • Ecopad refillable filter is widely used. The drawback is that it can be a bit messy to use.
  • Presto refillable pod holder is worth to be considered as well

Another option is to make your own coffee pods using whatever coffee you like. For this you use the Perfect Pod Maker. It’s amazingly quick and easy to use. The downside of this is that you’ll need to buy filters for making the pods.
